Well, my dissertation proposal was somewhat disastrous. Maybe I'm being a little melodramatic but the fact of the matter is that, as expected, changes have to be made but what was not expected is that one of my committee members refused to sign off until I make the changes and send out a new proposal. That may not sound so bad but if I can't get it done to his satisfaction by the first of July, I will miss the summer deadline that puts me on target to graduate next summer. I'm not sure that I can get it done but I'm going to try. My advisor is so pissed off at this guy and is totally supportive so hopefully I can do it.
My big issue with this a-hole isn't that he refused to sign off until changes are made in writing, but rather that he treated me like garbage for 2.5 hours in front of my other committee members. It was surreal in an awful way. Utterly humiliating and has made me determined to remove him from my committee as soon as I get him to sign off on my proposal (and I find a replacement who is fine with my study).
Needless to say, it's been a rough couple of days but I will survive. That's what I do.
